Tottenham’s £30m signing Moussa Sissoko is thanking somebody divine that he escaped Newcastle and secured Champions League football __with Spurs.
Sissoko claims he was “psychologically drained” as he awaited escape from Newcastle, who insisted on their £30m valuation being met for the French international.
He finally moved on deadline day after initially looking close to an Everton switch.
He told FIFA’s website: “Thank God I signed for Tottenham. There were talks that started way before and everything happened in the last few hours.
“I went on holiday, and everyone knew I wanted to leave Newcastle to go to a bigger club, play in the Champions League and compete for titles.
“I would’ve liked for it to be done quicker. I was able to rest a bit still, but psychologically, it drained me a bit.”
Sissoko has started Tottenham’s last three Premier League games, all of which were won by the north London side.
