Emmanuel Petit believes all Arsenal are lacking is a striker “who scores 40 goals a season”.
Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League table, __with Arsene Wenger’s side only behind leaders Manchester City on goal difference.
They are also unbeaten in the Champions League, and have secured progress in the EFL Cup.
Theo Walcott leads the goalscoring charts for the Gunners so far this season __with seven goals from a wide position, with Alexis Sanchez, who has been used as an auxiliary centre forward, second with five goals.
However, former midfielder Petit believes the club need more firepower if they are to end their 12-year top-flight title drought.
“Even though I love Arsenal and Arsene, I try to stay objective,” Petit told SFR Sport. “They never quite satisfy me, and they often frustrate me.
“As long as Arsenal don’t have a striker who scores 40 goals a season like Aguero does at Manchester City. That’s what you need in any league: a striker who is one of the best in the world.”
