Dortmund mock Mkhitaryan struggles at Man United

Henrikh Mkhitaryan Manchester United

Henrikh Mkhitaryan only has himself to blame for his struggles at Manchester United, according to Hans-Joachim Watzke.

Mkhitaryan left Dortmund to join United in the summer for £26.3million, but has found it difficult to acclimatise to life in the Premier League.

The Armenian winger has played just four of United’s eight league games, missing the other four due to an injury.

He was particularly disappointing on his first league start for the club, when manager Jose Mourinho criticised him after substituting him at half-time in the defeat to Manchester City.

But Dortmund CEO Watzke has no sympathy for the club’s former charge. He replied __with a simple “No” when asked whether he could return to the Bundesliga soon.

“Any intelligent player should consider in advance what kind of environment they are moving to,” he added.

“When you are playing in surroundings where things are working for you, like in Dortmund, then it is quite strange to give that away again once things have finally started to work out for you after a long time settling in.”

“In Mkhitaryan’s case it was the player’s decision,” he added, when asked whether he blames agent Mino Raiola for the summer sale. “Raiola is intelligent, and he’s a brute.

“He has a certain business model, but we knew that already when we sat down because of Mkhitaryan. You know what you have __with him.

“Raiola acted correctly.”
