Klopp unhappy with fixtures, pokes fun at weird fitness egg

Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp voiced his concern about Liverpool’s busy fixture schedule after a number of games were rearranged for December and January – and admits he expects to hear from Raymond Verheijen.

Eight of the Reds’ Premier League fixtures have been rescheduled after being chosen to be televised by either Sky or BT Sport.

And Klopp vented his frustration at the changes.

“I got the information because it is how it is. I thought: Who had this idea? Our job is to do everything we can to work games. I would never say Boxing Day is not a good idea because I love it,” he said.

“Now having a match day __with two days between (City and Sunderland), I don’t know why we play on Monday. Is it special, a day off in school?

“We sit here, you ask me: injuries. Then, this Dutch guy, the funny athletic coach says it’s not too good.

On Friday, Klopp became the first German to win the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award.

On the prize, he said: “I didn’t know about these prizes existing until David Wagner got it last month.

“Are you journalists involved? (No) Then no thanks to you!”

Liverpool are preparing to face fierce rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Monday night.

Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum are fitness doubts, although Klopp refused to rule the midfield duo out, and the German stoked excitment ahead of the clash.

“The more interest, the more difficult it is, but the more excited everybody is. It will never, ever, be a normal game,” said.

“We should use this opportunity on the pitch, all the nice stories are written on the pitch, in the stadium, __with big respect because that’s what it stands for.

“You face the biggest opponents and play football against them, that’s the kind of battle we have. We need to create a special atmosphere, in and around, in your living room!

“Knowing about this should give us the power.”
