Ryan Giggs says talks __with Swansea over the manager’s job “didn’t quite work out” due to “mixed messages” from the club.
The Swans this week appointed Bob Bradley to replace the axed Francesco Guidolin, __with the team languishing in 17th in the Premier League.
Giggs was among the candidates overlooked in favour of Bradley, much to the fury of Robbie Savage, who provoked an unprecedented Mediawatch on Saturday.
The Daily Mail reported that Giggs was unsuccessful following an “underwhelming” interview, but the former Manchester United player and assistant manager has given another version of events.
Guesting as a pundit for the England v Malta match, Giggs told ITV Sport: “There I was enjoying my year out, having done a bit of travelling and a bit of broadcasting, and I got the call from Swansea.
“So I met with them a couple of times. But in the end, there were just mixed messages, really, from the football side and the ownership side of the club, and I just felt that their ambitions didn’t really match mine. So it didn’t quite work out.”
