Former Liverpool and West Ham man Song in coma

Former Liverpool and West Ham United defender Rigobert Song is in a coma after the 40-year-old suffered a stroke on Sunday.

Song, who is Cameroon’s most capped player, was rushed to hospital in Yaoude after he suffered a cerebral aneurysm.

A family member has said that the 40-year-old was “unconscious” when he arrived at the medical centre.

Song has been working as a Cameroon coach since leaving his post as Chad manager.

Many of his ex-teammates have sent their best wishes as he continues to fight for his life.

Former Liverpool team-mates Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler paid tribute on social media, __with Carragher saying: “Hope everything ends up okay.”

Fowler said: “My thoughts with Rigobert Song and family. I hope he pulls through.”

Rigobert is the uncle of former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Alex Song, and is currently the manager of the Chad national team.
