Coutinho lauds Man City’s ‘crack’ new signing

Gabriel Jesus

Philippe Coutinho has backed Brazil team-mate Gabriel Jesus to take the Premier League by storm once he arrives at Manchester City.

City signed Jesus in a £27million deal in the summer, but the forward remains on loan at Palmeiras until January, when he will eventually start life at his new club.

The 19-year-old scored his third goals in three appearances for Brazil in the 5-0 demolition of Bolivia, and Coutinho admits City have a star on their hands.

“He is a crack player,” said the Liverpool attacker.

“He will have no difficulty in adapting – he is an agile, strong and fast player.

“Everything you need to play in England, he has it, and I’m sure he will do well.”

Jesus, who tops the Brazilian league’s scoring charts alongside former City forward Robinho, has been speaking to Fernandinho about life in Manchester.

He said: “I plan to have the best knowledge possible about Manchester, to facilitate my arrival, so we talk about what is important to me.

“I want to know more about the the club, the city, everything. I know it will be a shock to me moving there, but Fernandinho is a friend and team-mate.”

He added: “My mum is __with me and she can make pasta for me to eat – it won’t do to go without food, right?”
