Chelsea to offer Costa deal after Atletico interest

Southampton v Chelsea - Premier League

Chelsea will give striker Diego Costa a new long-term contract, according to reports.

In the Daily Mirror, Darren Lewis reports that Chelsea will reward Costa after his wonderful start to the season, but also to ward off interest from Atletico Madrid.

Costa’s former club have been linked __with a move for Costa throughout the last 12 months, after his disappointing 2015/16.

Costa’s relationship __with Jose Mourinho clearly deteriorated during the Portuguese’s last few months in charge at Chelsea, but he now looks revitalised under Antonio Conte.

He is the Premier League’s top scorer, scoring nine goals and assisting three in 11 games.

With his current deal expiring in 2019, Lewis writes that Conte is already keen on extending that.

Given that he’s 28, that would surely be the last deal that Costa signs at Stamford Bridge. Is he really going to stay past the age of 32?
